Questions You May Have!
What Air Fryer Do You Recommend?
The air fryer that I’m using in this recipe is the Cosori Air Fryer 6 Quart 9-in-1 air fryer. I previously had the Ninja Dual Basket 6-in-1 air fryer, but one of the baskets broke not to long into my purchase, so essentially it was a waste. This Cosori air fryer has been good to me so far! I like this one because it’s got a fairly large basket, which can fit in quite a bit of food. Another benefit of this air fryer is that it’s not too noisy. If you’d like more information about this air fryer, check out this video where I do an in-depth review of my overall impressions and review the different settings this air fryer has to offer!
Are These Air Fryer Roasted Potatoes Healthy?
Yes, these air fried potatoes are definitely healthy! I completely disagree with those who demonize potatoes that aren’t sweet potatoes. Potatoes are actually one of the most satiating foods, making them a nutritional powerhouse when they’re paired as part of a balanced meal. With russet potatoes specifically, they are high in fibre, potassium, vitamin C, and vitamin D. They are also rich in potassium and magnesium, and they are loaded with antioxidants. That’s good to know because as you can see from the numerous potato recipes I have on the blog, potatoes will indeed cause no harm!
Now, what you may be wondering is if these potatoes require lots of oil to make them delicious. Actually, they don’t! We’ll add just a touch to get them crispy, but this will really be kept to as little as possible. Let’s review why these roasted potatoes made in the air fryer are a healthy choice!
Lower in calories: Compared to pan-frying potatoes, you’ll only need a little bit in this air fryer recipe. This results in them being lower in calories compared to other methods.
Nutrient Retention: Using an air fryer to cook the potatoes can help preserve more nutrients in potatoes compared to boiling or frying.
Diet-Friendly: These roasted potatoes made in the air fryer are low in fat, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy free. As mentioned earlier, they can indeed be incorporated as part of a nutritious and balanced meal!
Do You Need to Soak The Potatoes Before Frying?
You can if you have the time, but doing a thorough rinse under cold water gets results kind of close to soaking the potatoes in cold water. Of course, the results will be slightly different and if you can afford the extra time, soaking will always be better.
What Potatoes Should I Use To Roast In the Air Fryer?
Russet potatoes are my top pick because of their high starch content. Unlike waxy potatoes such as Yukon golds, russets crisp up beautifully on the outside while staying fluffy inside. If you prefer a slightly creamier bite, you can use Yukon golds, but keep in mind they won’t get quite as crunchy as russets. Sweet potatoes also work well if you’re craving a naturally sweeter option, though they tend to soften rather than crisp.
How Do I KNow the Potatoes Have Finished Cooking?
Air fryer potatoes usually take 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the size of your cubes and your air fryer model. The best indicator is color and texture: they should be golden brown, lightly blistered, and crisp on the outside. To double-check, pierce one with a fork — it should slide in easily with a tender center. If they still feel firm or pale, give them a few more minutes.
What Flavour Variations Can You Do to Switch Up These Air Fryer Potatoes?
Garlic Parmesan: Add minced garlic, olive oil, and Parmesan cheese.
Lemon Pepper: Freshly squeezed lemon juice using a lemon squeezer and some ground pepper.
Taco-style: A Southwestern spin with my Taco Seasoning!
Curry powder: Indian-style spices here.
Cheese: Turn these into cheesy potatoes by adding some mozzarella cheese or a blend of mozzarella and cheddar on top, and set the air fryer to “Broil” so the cheese gets a perfect golden brown.
Bacon: Add some crumbled bacon bits over the potatoes. It would be amazing to combine with the cheese and taco seasoning!
Herbs: You can experiment with different fresh or dried herbs, such as chives, rosemary, parsley, or dill.

Tips & Tricks for Perfectly Crisp Air Fryer Roasted Potatoes
Cut the potatoes into cubes of the same size to ensure even cooking.
Add oil as desired to get the potatoes crispy, but aligns with your calorie needs. A light coating is key for golden edges.
Place the potatoes directly on the rack of your air fryer basket. This lets hot air circulate and prevents soggy spots. Avoid using liners if you want extra crispiness, since they trap excess oil.
Crowding the basket leads to steaming, not roasting. A single layer is best.
Make a big batch and store leftovers in the fridge. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes, and they’ll be just as crunchy the next day.
Can Air Fried Roasted Potatoes Be Made in Advance?
Yes, they definitely can be prepared in advance, so that means there’s no worries if there’s leftovers! Here’s how to store and reheat your potatoes.
Storage Instructions
Store your cooked potatoes into an airtight container in the fridge. These roasted potatoes will last in the fridge for 3 to 4 days before they spoil.
How to Reheat Roasted Potatoes
All you need to do is place them back in your air fryer and set the mode to “Reheat.” Allow the potatoes to reheat for about 5 minutes or until entirely warmed through.
