Hot Berry Cheesecake Oatmeal - a Berrylicious Blend!
I love a refreshing berry cheesecake! Yes, I do like my chocolate too, but I wanted to switch things up! I had a four-berry blend in my freezer in an attempt to try to get more fruits in my diet. What better way to use this powerhouse of a berry blend than in oatmeal? It sure ended up being a great idea as you can tell from the photos!
I got my frozen 4-berry blend from my local grocery store. It has the following berries:
- Raspberries
- Blueberries
- Blackberries
- Strawberries
You should be able to find any sort of frozen four-berry or general berry mix at your grocery store. If you don’t have this or don’t want to get it, you can make your own mish-mash of fresh berries. Why not! However, you won’t get the same color as these oats if you’re using fresh berries, because the juices from the frozen berries will release as the oats cook.
Out of this berry mix, my favourite berry is blackberries. All berries are very nutritious in their own way, though! So getting a blend of berries will provide you with many different nutrients. For example:
- Strawberries: These guys pack in a lot of vitamin C and research has shown that they can help prevent multiple types of cancer
- Blueberries: Tiny but extremely nutritious! Blueberries may help prevent prostate cancer. They are also a source of vitamin C, vitamin K, and manganese
- Blackberries: These berries have the highest amount of fibre and vitamins than the other berries! They have vitamins that can help prevent cancers such as lung, colon, and liver.
- Raspberries: Not only do they contain lots of vitamin C, but they are a fantastic source of fibre, phosphorous and selenium. Studies show that raspberries have been shown to assist in controlling blood sugar, and to help prevent liver damage.

What You’ll Need for This Hot Berry Cheesecake Oatmeal
- Rolled oats: You can also use quick oats. Rolled oats are large flake so they’ll have a nuttier taste and will look more prominent.
- Mixed berries: Fresh or frozen, but I do recommend frozen! All the pretty colours from the assortment of berries will transfer into the milk when you cook, so if you want your breakfast to look Instagram-worthy, then go for the frozen berries!
- Milk: Use either dairy milk or your favourite non-dairy alternative! Feel free to switch things up by trying this recipe with different types of milk!
- Greek yogurt: This may seem weird to add in hot oats but trust me this works! It will add to the creaminess of the oats and it’s high in protein. You can use plain or vanilla, but if you’re using
- Cream cheese: Can’t have a cheesecake without cream cheese! I use cream cheese from a tub, but you can use it from a block if that’s what you have. Just make sure to let it thaw for a bit so it’s not too hard when you’re taking it out. You could find a non-dairy substitution to cream cheese if necessary, such as this.
- Vanilla extract: Pretty much every oatmeal recipe I have uses vanilla extract. Just such a lovely fragrance that enhances the flavor of oatmeal!
- Honey: Optional, if the mixed berries aren’t sweet enough to your taste.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes this oatmeal taste like cheesecake?▼
Greek yogurt cooked into the oats gives a tangy, creamy base, and a spoonful of cream cheese melted on top seals the cheesecake flavour. With the warm berries running through it, it really does eat like dessert.
What berries should I use?▼
About a cup of mixed berries — strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or a frozen blend all work. Frozen berries are great here since they soften into the hot oats and release their juices.
What oats and how much milk?▼
Rolled oats are ideal — about ⅔ cup of oats to 1⅓ cups of milk, simmered until thick and creamy. That ratio gives you a loose, spoonable porridge rather than a stiff one.
