Chocolate Cheesecake in Oatmeal!

These espresso chocolate cheesecake overnight oats are a decadent treat to start your day!

In this recipe, I'll be showing you how to make a delicious overnight oats recipe that I recently came up with! Now, me being me, I was really craving some chocolate. What’s new? I had been enjoying some fun cheesecake oats, such as these Blueberry Cheesecake Overnight Oats. As delicious as cheesecake is, a chocolate cheesecake is one epic match! I don’t think I’ve had that many before, but thinking about a good chocolate cheesecake right now is really making my tummy growl. I love the creaminess of cheesecake with the classic decadence of chocolate! Yum!

What better way to enjoy two favorite things than to come up with a chocolate cheesecake overnight oats! These oats ended up being extremely creamy, rich and decadent, and very easy to prepare!

Check out the ingredients you’ll need for these superb overnight oats!

Ingredients for chocolate espresso cheesecake overnight oats: quick oats, cocoa powder, cream cheese, Greek yogurt, instant coffee, and milk.
  • Rolled oats
  • Cocoa powder
  • Milk
  • Greek yogurt
  • Honey
  • Vanilla extract
  • Plain Greek yogurt
  • Cream cheese
  • Espresso powder
  • Whipped cream and white chocolate chips on top!

PS: Notice this is the ONLY overnight oats recipe I have that has no chia seeds. Why? Well, try this recipe and you’ll see for yourself. In the morning, they’ll be EXTREMELY thick! The chia seeds wouldn’t add much additional thickness. But of course, feel free to add them if you really want to! They’re packed with fiber and omega-3 fatty acids with a good balance of carbs and protein too, so if you want the nutritional benefits of chia seeds, then by all means go ahead!

A Morning Pick-Me Up!

I’d have to say that while a chocolate cheesecake for breakfast sure would grab my attention, what really enhances these overnight oats even more is the hint of espresso powder added to the base. I’ve had a coffee cake maybe once before, but I know that it was wonderful! I had some espresso powder on hand so I decided to incorporate it in these oats. I actually don’t drink any coffee in the morning, which I guess is a good thing because I don’t rely on anything to wake me up! Actually, what will get me up in the morning (after some grogginess) is looking forward to making something exciting for breakfast in the morning. Well, these were overnight oats, so there was nothing to prepare except for the toppings, but I definitely was looking forward to taking a nice big bite out of these oats!

I don’t think the amount of espresso powder is really enough to give you a huge boost of energy in the morning, but what I can tell you is that it really enhances these creamy oats and complements the cocoa very well. I really recommend you don’t skip this step!

How to Prepare These Chocolate Espresso Overnight Oats?

These chocolate cheesecake oats will certainly feel like you’re having dessert for breakfast! Some extra good news here is that these oats take significantly less time than actually making a chocolate cheesecake. Woohoo!

Let’s start by adding the oats, milk, Greek yogurt, cream cheese, cocoa powder, espresso powder, vanilla and honey in a large mixing bowl.

Glass bowl with oats, cocoa powder, espresso powder, Greek yogurt, and a drizzle of honey before mixing.

Mix all of these ingredients really well!

Hand stirring thick chocolate oat mixture with a spoon in a clear glass bowl on a granite countertop.

Let it cool in the fridge ideally overnight or for 4-6 hours. Finish these oats off with some whipped cream, honey for sweetness, and some whipped cream to really make it feel like you're having a rich and creamy chocolate cheesecake for breakfast! If you’d like, you can skip the aerosol can and make your own Amazing Whipped Cream at Home! I like to add a few chocolate chips on top to mimic those little chocolate pearls you find on cheesecakes!

There you have it! Now, it’s time for you to gather your ingredients and get a bowl ready to prepare your next delicious breakfast recipe! Have it waiting for you in the fridge before a busy morning and enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes these taste like chocolate cheesecake?▼

Cocoa powder brings the chocolate, while cream cheese and Greek yogurt give that rich, tangy cheesecake creaminess. Stirred together and chilled, the oats set into something that genuinely tastes like dessert.

Do they really taste of coffee?▼

Yes — a tablespoon of espresso powder gives them a proper mocha kick, which is exactly why they make such a good morning pick-me-up. Use a little less if you'd prefer just a hint of coffee.

Quick oats or rolled oats?▼

This recipe uses quick oats, which soften faster and give a smoother, creamier overnight texture that suits the cheesecake feel.
