Spaghetti & Meatballs with Classic Marinara

Hey everyone! Spaghetti and meatballs with marinara sauce is one of my all-time favourite meals! I just love the succulent pan-fried meatballs tossed in with classic marinara sauce. If you haven't tried this Italian classic yet, you definitely should with this easy-to-follow and amazingly delicious recipe!

I love that the marinara sauce sauce is thick and tomatoey. The meatballs are pan-seared to a crisp perfection, yet they stay super soft and tender on the inside! This gives them an enormous amount of flavour that you're definitely going to love. Finish this dish with a helping of parmesan cheese and fresh basil and your Italian feast is ready! Enjoy!

  • 6-8 OZ Ground beef, pork, turkey or chicken
  • 1/4 Cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 Cup Freshly chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2/3 Cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 150 mL milk
  • 1/4 Cup Finely chopped onion
  • 2 Cloves of garlic
  • 8 OZ Spaghetti
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (you can find my recipe here)
  • 1 T olive oil
  • Freshly chopped basil, for garnish

Serves 2

For the chicken

  1. In a small bowl, add the breadcrumbs. Pour in the milk and mix vigorously. Allow the breadcrumbs to rest until they reach the consistency of soggy cereal, about 10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, add the meat. Add the onion, garlic, and fresh parsley. Mix well.
  3. Add the soaked breadcrumbs into the mix, discarding any excess milk, followed by the parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Combine all the ingredients together.
  4. Use a 1.5 OZ scoop or use your hands to make meatballs with the mix. Note: You can apply some oil onto your hands to avoid the meat from sticking.
  5. In a large pot, bring water up to a boil. Add some salt to the boiling water and add in the pasta. Cook as per package instructions or until al dente.
  6. Heat a pan on medium heat and add the oil. Cook the meatballs until evenly browned on all sides. Set aside on a plate lined with paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
  7. Drain the pasta and return it back to the pot. Add the marinara sauce and toss well to combine.
  8. Add the spaghetti onto a plate, followed by your meatballs. Sprinkle some extra parmesan cheese onto the spaghetti and meatballs, as well as some fresh basil. Serve hot and enjoy :)
