Homemade McAloo Tikki Burger

  1. Prepare potato mix from the above recipe and chill in fridge/freezer for at least 30 mins.
  2. Form potato mix into patties with your hands or using a round cookie cutter to the shape of your buns.
  3. Chill patties again for at least 30 mins.
  4. Prepare the batter in a large bowl.
  5. Measure out flour and breadcrumbs on separate plates. Season breadcrumbs with salt and pepper.
  6. Dredge the patty in flour, shake off excess and then place in batter and coat.
  7. Using a spatula, gently place patty in breadcrumbs and coat everywhere. Apply light pressure to ensure breadcrumbs are stuck. Set aside.
  8. Pour 1-2 cms of vegetable oil in a pan to shallow fry the patties and heat on medium heat.
  9. Shallow fry patties until golden brown, flip and cook further until crispy and golden brown.
  10. Set aside on wire rack or paper towels. Cook remaining patties.
  11. Toast your buns and spread spicy mayo on the top bun followed by tomato slice and onion. Place crispy patty on the bottom bun, assemble burger and voila! Your very own homemade McAloo Tikki burger. So delicious! Serve hot and enjoy :)

McDonald's holds a special place for almost everywhere in this world and one of their favourite offerings In India is there McAloo Tikki burger which is simply and delicious spiced, crispy potato and pea patty over buns, spicy tangy mayo onions and tomato.. I can never get that delicious mish-mash of flavour out of my head. This recipe is dedicated to the awesome memories thanks to McDonalds and their delicious vegetarian-only offerings! Your mindset towards vegetarian burgers will flip once you try this, You can go one step ahead and make your own buns which I find is really worthwhile and delicious!
