Layered Black Forest Pancakes

Hey everyone! Here is a layered black forest pancake that I'm sure you're going to love! These pancakes have got three amazing components that are layered that truly resemble the traditional black forest cake.

Black forest is my all-time favourite cake, it would be my number one choice for a birthday cake! Because I love it so much I wanted to incorporate this concept into some super tasty pancakes. These pancakes are layered with a rich cream cheese glaze and a strawberry puree. These two toppings plus some chocolate shavings all meld together in between each pancake to make a superb flavour combination. Be sure to try these pancakes for your next relaxing weekend treat and enjoy!


  1. Preheat the oven to 200 F. In a large mixing bowl, add the oat flour, egg, honey, baking powder, and the cocoa powder. Either begin whisking with your hands or turn on your stand mixer, and gradually pour in water until you get a thick but runny pancake batter.
  2. Heat a pan to medium heat. Add a bit of butter and scoop out about 1/4 cup of pancake batter onto the pan. Cook for about a minute or two, until the pancakes start forming bubbles, then flip on the other side. One both sides are cooked, transfer the pancake onto a baking sheet and leave it warm in the oven. Repeat this step for the remaining batter.
  3. To make the cream cheese glaze, add the cream cheese, milk and sugar in a mixing bowl and whisk vigorously until until the ingredients have combined well.
  4. To make the strawberry puree, add the strawberries and some water into a blender, and mix until the strawberries have been well combined. If your mixture has become too thin, you can reduce it by cooking it in a saucepan on medium heat until it reaches a thick sauce-like consistency.
  5. When all the pancakes have cooked, place one pancake and spoon on a bit of glaze, the strawberry puree and some of the chocolate shavings. Stack on another pancake and repeat until you've coated the top pancake. Serve hot and enjoy :)

Makes 6

  • 5 OZ Cream cheese
  • 3 T Powdered sugar
  • 3/4 T Milk

For the toppings

  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1 chopped square of baking milk or dark chocolate, for garnish
