Try this besan papda for a savoury twist to your regular weekend pancakes this morning. You'll love the twist with this crispy Indian pancake made from chickpea flour!

This besan pancake is a popular favourite in North Indian homes, loved for its unique flavour given by the besan/gram/chickpea flour and a variety of Indian spices in addition to chillies and onions. This is a really simple preparation and goes really well with any Indian pickle or chutneys. I grew up loving this dish and I would love to hear what you guys think of this special breakfast pancake! So be sure to try out this super delicious besan papada recipe and enjoy!

  1. Mix all ingredients except the oil and water in a bowl. Using a whisk, add in the water and mix until you have a smooth, runny batter.
  2. Heat a pan on medium heat. Add in half a ladle of the batter. Sprinkle some oil over the top of the pancake and cook until the edges start to turn golden brown.
  3. Flip the pancake and cook for 1-2 minutes on the other side.
  4. Fold the pancake into thirds and repeat steps 2-4 for the remaining batter. Serve hot with a pickle or hot sauce. Serve hot and enjoy :)

I would love to hear your feedback
