Traditional Spaghetti and Meatballs | Dinner Recipe

This recipe will show you how I love to make spaghetti and meatballs. While this dish is simple it certainly has its own elegance and is loved by everyone! I pair the spaghetti and meatballs with my homemade marinara sauce, which you can read how to make it here.

Serves: 2

  • 1/2 pound ground beef, pork, turkey or chicken
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup freshly chopped basil or parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 8 oz. spaghetti
  • 2 cups marinara sauce, either homemade or store bought.
  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  2. Soak the breadcrumbs with milk and combine everything else except the spaghetti and marinara sauce and mix well.
  3. Add the soaked breadcrumbs into the mix, discarding any excess milk.
  4. Add some salt to the boiling water and add in the pasta. Cook as per package instructions or until al dente.
  5. Use a 1.5 oz scoop or use your hands to make meatballs with the mix. Note: You can apply some oil onto your hands to avoid the meat from sticking.
  6. Heat a pan on medium heat and add some oil. Cook the meatballs until evenly browned on all sides. Set aside on a plate lined with paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
  7. Drain the pasta and return it back to the pot. Add half of the marinara sauce and toss well to combine.
  8. Put half of the pasta in a plate or a bowl and add in half of the remaining sauce and lay out half of the meatballs with a final grating of fresh parmesan cheese. Enjoy :)
